One of the biggest issues in the church today is that many who profess to be Christians don’t act like Christians. Many want to “date” the church without making a commitment to service or leadership. Paul’s first letter to his disciple Timothy is a very practical guide to doing life together in the church and leading others in the way we live our lives. The series begins February 5th, 2017.
Our adult Veritas session is currently studying a book by David Mathis entitled Habits of Grace. We have all struggled at times to grow in reading our Bible and prayer, and maybe you are wondering if you will ever be consistent in this area. Mathis helps us to see that God’s grace drives us to enjoy Him in His word and prayer. We hope you can join us for this wonderful study! John DeBaun and Pastor Taylor will lead this class. (Note: we will take a break from this study January 29th – February 26th for the second half of our Foundations class for new members. All are welcome during that class as well.)
Resuming for the new year Friday, January 27th, our bi-weekly women’s Aletheia Bible study will meet at CTR from 9 – 11 a.m. All CTR women and guests are invited. This is a great time to connect with other women! We will be studying Son of Man: Seeing Jesus in the Historical Books by Nancy Guthrie. Childcare is available and there are more workbooks on hand. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
CTR’s Veritas discipleship classes meet each Sunday at 9:15 a.m. There are classes for all ages to help you and your family grow and be challenged in your faith. Veritas, from the Latin word for “truth,” focuses on “systematic” areas of growth: theology and practice. We want to know the truth and live it out. This year we have a nursery for infants and toddlers, a pre-K through 1st grade class, a 2nd grade through 5th grade class, a middle school/high school class and an adult class. Each is taught by members at CTR committed to teaching and modeling truth and seeing people become more like Christ. Our children’s curriculum comes from the “Show Me Jesus” materials from Great Commission publications. Our teen class will be studying worldview and our adult class will be studying spiritual disciplines for the next 12 weeks. We hope to see you here!
Beginning the week of Labor Day, our Life Groups resume meeting on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 7 – 9 p.m. We meet in two locations: Manchester (301 Harrison Street) and Sandown (10 Candlestick Lane). Our format is simple–each meeting we do three things: share our lives and how God is working, pray together, and study the Bible. This fall we will be discussing the previous Sunday’s sermon and applying it to our lives. Come join us! Contact Pastor Jon (email@example.com) or John DeBaun (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information or to sign up. Beginning in January we will be adding a third Life group in Bedford…call the church office or email email@example.com for more information.
Are you new to this country and/or the Manchester area? Do you have an interest in learning about the Christian faith? Each week at 3:30 at the library of Southern New Hampshire University, there is a Bible study open to anyone who has questions about God and the Bible and who would like to learn more. Even if you are skeptical, this is a great place to bring your questions. Ask for Chris McMillan or contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like more information.
Do you want to learn English? Do you want to help others to learn English? Then join us on Tuesdays from 3:30 – 5:00 in the library at Southern New Hampshire University as we engage in informal conversation to help international students with their English. This is a great opportunity for CTR members to show the love of Christ to newcomers to our city!
